SHODOKA, Song of immediate enlightenment, is a text of the Chinese Zen Master Yoka Daishi (665-713). The original text consists of about 2,000 kanji (ideograms) forming 267 poetic verses, some of which are mentioned in the paintings. The backgrounds of these paintings have been produced during two action painting performances together with the French sculptress and performance artist Astrid Fremin. ( see video on YouTube ) This work deals with "sacred" art, not only because of the content and the modality in which it was produced, but especially due to the attitude with which it was conceived and executed. |

Conosco ora questo tesoro di vera libertà, inesauribile non solo per me stesso, ma anche per gli altri. La luna brilla sull'acqua del fiume, il vento soffia tra i pini. Ritirarsi tra le montagne profonde, vivere in un piccolo eremo, seduti sotto un grande pino, calmi e tranquilli. Praticare la meditazione, lieti e in pace nella dimora del monaco eremita. Vita semplice e serena, autentica bellezza. |
