The RUPALOKA series, in progress, began in 2012, progressively developing as four subseries: IL RAPIMENTO DI PROSERPINA, ALFABETO IONICO, PARADISI INFERIORI and I PILASTRI DELL'ARTE. In the Buddhist cosmology RUPALOKA is the metaphysical dimension of primordial forms, situated between KAMALOKA, the realm of the senses, and ARUPALOKA, the realm without form. The inscriptions on these paintings dedicated to IL RAPIMENTO DI PROSERPINA (THE KIDNAPPING OF PROSERPINA) are extracts, freely taken from De raptu Proserpinae by Claudian (IV sec.), translated by the poet Milo De Angelis and published by Enrico Casaccia Editore. |
