Sant'Albano Stura
2015

SHODOKA, "Song of
immediate enlightenment",
is a text of the Chinese Zen
master Yoka Daishi (665-713).
The original text consists
of about 2,000 kanji
(ideograms) distributed
in 267 poetic verses, some
of which are mentioned
in the paintings.

The backgrounds
of these paintings
have been produced
during two performances
together with the
French sculptress and
performer Astrid Fremin.
( see thevideo on YouTube )

I consider this work
"sacred" art, not only
because of the content
and the modality
in which it has been
produced, but especially
due to the attitude
it has been conceived
and executed with.
